MOST PEOPLE SAY IT, but they hardly ever mean it:
"I would give my right/left arm for him/her." But 34-year-old Olivia Jackman of Wanstead, St James, is a woman of her word.
She made a promise to give one of her kidneys to a little boy living thousands of miles away in the United States and she delivered.
A year after the surgery which took place on February 17, 2006, at the Down State University Hospital in New York, she bears a few scars which she wears proudly like badges of honour.
Olivia, a teacher at St Stephens Nursery School, went to Brooklyn, New York, to study child psychology back in December 1999. She never imagined she would come back to Barbados short of one kidney.
