Christians Need to Support Foster Care
Children in foster care need support of Christians
By THE REV. NEELY WILLIAMS
Fostering hope, providing support, and nurturing the soul is a mandate of the Christian Church at large and the work of each member of the body of Christ.
May is National Foster Care Month. There are 513,000 American children in foster care across our nation. On June 30, 2006, 9,271 children were in the foster-care system in Tennessee. African-Americans make up 16 percent of the Davidson County's population, however 61 percent of the children in foster care in are of non-Hispanic, African-American descent.
The children caught up in the foster-care system need your support. You have heard it said that, "ministry is everybody's business." Well, children in foster care are certainly the church's business.
