The 1900 Alabama Normal and Industrial Institute Census is now online. Booker T. Washington appears first on the census, as the principal. George Washington Carver, is noted on page 4 as a Teacher of Agriculture. There are a few interesting tid bits: one African student was attending, whose family immigrated from Africa during the late 1890's; a few Cubans, who immigrated, around the same time period, also attended the institute.
