April, I found a Mariah Brodie in the 1870 census:

Gold something, NC

Henry Brodie b. 1821
Mariah Brodie b. 1823
Ann Brodie b. 1856
Sam Brodie b, 1858
Newman Brodie b. 1860
Indi Brodie b. 1862
Cerry Brodie b. ??

If this is a coincidence, it is an awful BIG one.

Mariah, Sam, Numan & Indianna were in the 1880 census. The birth years are almost the same. Cerry could be Senie???

It looks like Mariah was a Brodie by marriage. It also looks as if all of her children are Brodies'. Maybe she remarried and changed their names to her new last name. (Kelly)
