Re: Am I Grabbing at Straws?
In Response To: Re: Am I Grabbing at Straws? ()

Annette,

I've not found Susie's name any where other than on my great grandmothers death certificate and that indication was that Susie was from Athens, Georgia. Had tried to look to see if any Fitzpatricks were in Athens for any amount of time but thus far I've found nothing along that line. By the time I find my great great grandfather, he is married to Julia who would have been at least his second wife or union. Clem Jr.'s death certificate does not list his mother and I have been unable to determine when or locate death certificates on Katie or Eliza. I do know that Julia was Pink's mother. I have pinpointed Katie's death to have occurred around the early 1900's before states were keeping records. Have no idea on Eliza.

If I recall I have a copy of a will on Peter Walton. I'm at work currently, but will check when I get home to see what names if any of slaves may be on that will. I do recall I saw nothing on his will referencing Susie. That had been my first stab as I know that Mary Fitzpatrick Walton was the last slave holder of my great great grandfather.

My web address is home.comcast.net/~twilewis/. The site will change in a month or so as I have been redesigning it so that relatives will be better able to track their lines on the site. There are photos included of some early Fitch descendants.

By the way, have you or Polly been able to determine if the Fitzpatrick slaves were willed in family groupings?

Twilla
