It's funny, a little distrubing and sad that anyone would think that Black people could get a "fair" trial in Georgia in 1912. Or that by "admitting" guilt is the same as being "guilty". It's also disturbing and very sad that anyone would think that what you read in newspaper is always the TRUTH. But it's even more disturbing that anyone would think that there was JUSTIFICATION in running a whole race of people out of town because of an incident. But that goes to show you the differences in perception and reality for most people. If the tables were turned and it was a white man who raped a black woman, would the whole white population been run out. I think not! What this incident really shows us is a very painful and historic past that MOST of our AA ancestors endured. I'm researching folks in Texas who suddenly disappeared. I too will look up what incident may have occurred that county.
