Seventies Soulchild: It was alright.. hold on.. brb
Daviss: k
alt: hello ladies.. y'all doing alright today?
Seventies Soulchild: Doing well alt, Happy Birthday!
alt: thank you Seventies Soulchild hey y'all ... accepting gifts of 'paper', color .. green, any denomination. LOL
Seventies Soulchild: lol
alt: is this your bro's birthday too Seventies Soulchild?
Seventies Soulchild: Yesterday was..
alt: ah so, okay .. belated Happy birthday to your Bro.
Seventies Soulchild: What happened to Daviss? I hope I didn't make her made. Just sitting here multi tasking and just not 'with it' today. WB Daviss.
alt: wb Daviss
Daviss: hmmms strange lol happy Birthday Alt!!
alt: well, git with it Seventies Soulchild!!!!!!!!
Seventies Soulchild: I'm trying alt.
alt: thanks Daviss
Daviss: I was bumped out lol
Seventies Soulchild: ok so I have this issue...
alt: just one lol lol lol
Seventies Soulchild: Genealogical issue before anyone makes any smart comments.. lol alt! lol
alt: okay Seventies Soulchild
Seventies Soulchild: I made contact with an individual on 23 and me and it was determined that she is my grandfather's 3rd cousin. The percentage is .58% over 3 segments My highest yet. This person gave me a brief rundown of her genealogy.
alt: and the paper trail 'fits" ??? that's wonderful Seventies Soulchild
Seventies Soulchild: alt I'm going to tell you now. no. The way I figure it is that for them to be 3rd cousins she would have to had shared a 4th great grandparent with my grandfather. But she is close in age with my mom. This is the kicker, they are all from Virginia and North Carolina. My grandfather's paternal line came from Hinds Co. MS according to the papertrail No further info than that.
alt: okay Seventies Soulchild
Seventies Soulchild: So the only thing I can think of is that Benj Thompson father is the common ancestor. Excuse me Benj great grandfather.
Daviss: who determined the 3rd cousins you and she or 23
alt: or a sibling of Benjamin Thompson's great-grandfather
Seventies Soulchild: Who that is remains unknown 23 and me made the genetic determination.
Daviss: you two have to do that and then change it in the box
Seventies Soulchild: ???
Daviss: by research or knowltedge they had me as the aunt of my brother I had to change that by knowledge..
Seventies Soulchild: I have no idea ofhow we could be related. at all.
alt: I really don't have much faith in those 'genetic' realtionships when you put the genaology conditions in place.
Seventies Soulchild: The capture story of Benj thompson still intrigues me though... Combine that with stories of the family coming from VA
Daviss: I have a cousin who was 3 to 5th. we had to figure out through step how we were related. her father and my mother are 1st cousins 1once removed
alt: that's is in tying the relationship to a particular person thru the genetics.
Seventies Soulchild: ok
alt: I'm putting my money on the genealogy
Daviss: Not sure how you would discount that state thing though since we were shipped in all directions
Seventies Soulchild: Well I think 3rd cousins are awfully close.
Daviss: Her line may have never set foot in Ms
Seventies Soulchild: Well I am truly perplexed.
Daviss: thats were you have to do more figuring seventies and it may take longer than a day
Seventies Soulchild: Of course...
Daviss: .58 and 3 segs
Seventies Soulchild: I don't even know if that is a high percentage... I'm definitely going to have to speak to my grandfather again
alt: I'm thinking any 3rd cousin could be related thru the descendants of any one of my great-parents or their siblings and I have what.... 8 great-grandparents and they have dozens of siblings.
Daviss: that may very well could be for 3rd cousins right alt out of all my matches, I may have two that have Texas in their list of states
alt: that's my problem with genetic genealogy... it seems they try to 'straight-line' every relationship to parent, grandparent, etc. and don't take siblings into consideration.
Seventies Soulchild: What are the other states
Daviss: all the southern ones not speaking of the other persuasion
Seventies Soulchild: LOL I was just asked to investigate who our new boss will be... Oh lawd! lol
alt: investigate your new boss???
Seventies Soulchild: Yes.
alt: like a background check????
Seventies Soulchild: Yes.. lol
alt: really!!!!
Seventies Soulchild: Word gets around I do all kinds of stuff... :}
alt: I guess you do Daviss, got your phones working??? was it 'water-logged" ?
Daviss: I can text only on my cell.. I need to take it to T Mobile for them to look at
Seventies Soulchild: brb
Daviss: I can use it for a call but it goes in and out
alt: technology is a 'blip' when it ain't working right LOL LOL
Daviss: lol good thing I have one in the house
alt: yep, that's one reason why we still have our Land line.
Daviss: yep, me too alt I don't mind paying that extra bill
alt: me neither, we even took off the long distance service for the land line.. can only call out locally, but can accpet long distance calls
Daviss: Mel has had much success with his DNA links alt yes thats what I have too alt.. No wonder we are partners lol Hi Selma

Seventies Soulchild: I haven't had the chance to listen to the podcast. Stories sounded interesting though.
alt: I just finished listening to the radio show
Seventies Soulchild: The only serendipious moment I had was noticing signs for various locations after I was able to acquire the slave inventories of the Farrar and Ellis families.
Selma: and what did you think alt?
Seventies Soulchild: We're talking about driving along the highway and trying to read those small street signs... very tough. But I tell you when I drove through in 2009 I saw them all for the first time. Though I've driven that road many times over about 15 years.
Daviss: hold on let me write that word down S . e. r. e lol
alt: good stories Selma .. they've happened to all of us
