alt: frustrated.. can't get the census to upload.... at least not my page
Daviss: HA! you know you are among the millions
alt: yep, that's for sure LOL
jhonora: Hello alt, Daviss
Daviss: hi jhonora!
alt: hello jhonora, how are ya?
jhonora: Doing well
Seventies Soulchild: Good afternoon... alt, Daviss, jhonora
alt: Hello Seventies Soulchild, how ya doing?
Daviss: hello Seventies Souldchild!
Seventies Soulchild: I'm doing very good.
jhonora: Normally I don't join-in on Mondays but I just had to ask if anyone had luck with the census
Daviss: tune in on tuesday jhonora lol
jhonora: lol
Seventies Soulchild: Nope! lol
alt: I've been looking at census images on Ancestry for Indiana just to get the feel of what I'll be looking for.
Seventies Soulchild: I did that too alt.. though I have no idea of what street my Indianapolis family lives on.
jhonora: I have tried downloading the zip for over an hour on my laptop and waiting for the pages to appear as well
Seventies Soulchild: I don't know why people went out there today. Totally a lost cause.
Daviss: 3 hrs for me jhonora
Seventies Soulchild: So now I can say "I tol' ya so!" lol
alt: I think I'll 'fire up" a laptop and do my searches there while I'm on the PC doing other things.
Daviss: Well for one Seventies they put out the word that it could handle everyone
Seventies Soulchild: I never believed that for a moment.
Daviss: I think the folks in europe did noty have a problem at all
Seventies Soulchild: The cost to upgrade their computers just to handle the processing... wow!
Daviss: hello yatah!
Seventies Soulchild: hi yatah
alt: I do think the "archives' search feature on finding the ED's, Map, & Schedules works pretty well... it's just the traffic and the upload of the images problem that's annoying.
yatah: hello how you like 1940 come out ? ga
Seventies Soulchild: I went on the ED's from Steve Morse's site and had no problems
alt: hello yatah
jhonora: Yeah, finding ED's are no problem
Seventies Soulchild: jhonora, had you ever heard of Bayou Sarah?
alt: Daviss, I even try to enlist my buddy Amy Johnson Crow to help me... no luck so far LOL
Daviss: right, peeps have been getting the ED's for a couple weeks now
jhonora: Some people from my society are working with the Library to have 1940 Census Party Seventies, Bayou Sarah is basically now St. Francisville
Seventies Soulchild: Yep.
Daviss: I got daughter to be late for work alt so she could take Tyler to school
alt: have you tried the 1940archives.gov search for the ED' in your State?
jhonora: What family name, Seventies?
Daviss: and I was at the puter at 5:30 this morn
Seventies Soulchild: Henyard. several born in the area.
alt: hello 1940 Alabam
Seventies Soulchild: 1940 Alabam
Daviss: hello 1940 Alabam
1940 Alabam: howdy to all
Daviss: nothing yet yatah!
alt: hello Nadasue
yatah: it not full come out right ?
Daviss: I got all my ED's at Morse site but I saw that you can get them at the archives site alt
1940 Alabam: alt daviss jhonora seventies yatah and 1940 Alabam
alt: right Daviss.. if you know the ED you can place it in the archives search.
Daviss: they are not indexed yatah. However there are a few states that are on Ancestry
jhonora: Henyard, are those the people from Mexico, Seventies?
Seventies Soulchild: Yes Came across the surname on WWI&II draft cards with almost all being born in Sarah Bayou...
Daviss: right alt, thats what I did .......rolling eyes
alt: or just place the state/county in the search and it will give you a summary of possible ED's
Seventies Soulchild: alt please don't get Daviss started... lol lol lol
jhonora: I didn't know they were in Bayou Sarah, I thought they were just Mississippi
Daviss: lol lol
Seventies Soulchild: So did I jhonora
yatah: i able find some 1940
alt: Seventies Soulchild, you know the WW I draft records ... all of them... are now on Famlysearch?
Daviss: oh yatah you got on?
Seventies Soulchild: I didn't know that.
1940 Alabam: Congratulations Yatah
Seventies Soulchild: I need to see if I can find more of the Alabama people there. I don't think that any of them fought during the CW.
jhonora: 70s, as you know, West Feliciana was a Florida Parish, which "might" explain the Mexican ancestry they claim
alt: yep... they aren't indexed yet, but you can get to your folks by Sate/County and then browse the image in alpha order by name.
Seventies Soulchild: Even as late as the mid 1830's and 1840's jhonora?
yatah: yeah i able find my grandpa and my grandma live in pa 1940
alt: WOW!!! that is great yatah!!!!!!!
Seventies Soulchild: Did you print out or save the images yatah?
1940 Alabam: Daviss we added a room for census talk
yatah: yeah
1940 Alabam: Any word from AYW on her photo shoot daviss
Daviss: thats good 1940
Seventies Soulchild: Will it be open all day 1940 Alabam?
jhonora: Well, 70s, they were annexed in 1810, so there wasn't much Spanish culture in the area. But then again, do the Henyards even recall a Spanish/Afro-Spanish culture? like words, names, food?
alt: the images and information on the 1940 census are quite informative .... and then the 'special questions at the bottom of each page and the instructions for what the abbrv mean are excellent.
1940 Alabam: 24 hours seventies
Seventies Soulchild: My branch definitely not.
jhonora: alt, I know a lot of your research is on AA migration from Va to Oh, but does it extend to Va to Ind.?
1940 Alabam: LunchBunch will topic census month of April
Daviss: hi there profdru!
Seventies Soulchild: ok 1940 Alabam

Seventies Soulchild: We all have enumeration districts for the states and counties we're searching in for 1940?
alt: and the years of migration are from 1780 to 1865 jhonora
Daviss:
Seventies Soulchild: I cannot wait to see my aunt and grandparents together on the 1940 census.
jhonora: The AAGS of Northern Calif., recently ran a story on a Joshua Lyles, patriarch of a large group Ind family.
Seventies Soulchild: Of Lyles Station, IN??
alt: the archive.gov maps even give you the crossing Streets/Road intersections of the ED's... pretty neat if you know the geography of the area.
1940 Alabam: jhonora ancestors of one of the residents where i live
alt: yep jhonora, it was written by Arlene Polk an AfriGeneas regular.
jhonora: Yes, 70s and alt, it was very interesting
Seventies Soulchild: It was good to see Alta Cannady on TV last night...
