Seventies Soulchild: The people over on the Mexico genealogy page were intrigued with my Henyard family. lol
alt: I can imagine... is it an Afro-Mexican page?
Seventies Soulchild: No just Mexican genealogy in general
alt: okay

alt: Mecklenburg, isn't that one of those border counties with NC?
kim: I did but it seems nobody was researching my Minnie Samuels Yes it is
AYWalton: Sometimes we all walk on the lonely genealogical road. It is a solitary endeavor for sure.
alt: okay, in the southampton, northampton, halifax area.
kim: It seem that Minne was very elusive
alt: Minnie meet Mariah LOL
Daviss: I am seing you searching Anica Samuels in SC

AYWalton: Been doing any research lately Statustray?
Statustray: It's coming along alright. I still have some brick walls, but I am not giving up. And even though I have some brick walls, I am still learning about family members so that's good ;-)
kim: yes it is
Statustray: AYWalton: Yup, I am now back researching again, I took a leave of absence for a little bit, but now I'm back into it.
AYWalton: I know how that is, Statustray.
kim: me too..I'm back!
Statustray: I still have family members who do not want to give me any information, or so it seems, they tell me, "I am going to send it to you" but it's all a mirage... lol...
Seventies Soulchild: oh I can't stand that. lol
Daviss: kim, do you know when Minnie was born
Seventies Soulchild: My aunts are very, very talkative about the family history and very helpful as is my grandfather.

Statustray: It is pretty nice, yes.
AYWalton: And laptops are now coming with it pre-loaded.
alt: FTM 16 is the last 'real' FTM genealogy package out there AYWalton ... IMHO
Statustray: oh really? I didn't know that.
Selma: Good morning dru
ProfDru: Howdy Gang

ProfDru: Angela in da house!!!
Daviss: hello ProfDru
AYWalton: how are you this afternoon, ProfDru?
ProfDru: I'm ok; trying to resist taking a nap. lol I just played with the voice recognition software on my computer--where you can speak to the computer and it types what you say.
AYWalton: Statustray what are you working on with your own projects.
ProfDru: Dictated a 1971 letter written to my grandmother by her sister.
alt: WOW ProfDru, we're finally there when computers will do what we say, huh?
AYWalton: sounds like a neat program. did you purchase it or download it recently ProfDru?
ProfDru: This technology has been at least since the late 1990s.
alt: really!!!!!
ProfDru: I used the free one with windows, but I do have one which I purchased some time ago.
Selma: Is it built into everyone's computer?
Statustray: AYWalton: Nothing in particular to be honest. I did recently learn that my great-great-great grandmother had siblings, and tracked one of her brothers from MS to TX.
alt: but not available for everyday 'chumps' like me, huh?
AYWalton: Yes I am aware that the technology exists I used to see ads for it on AOL years ago, but never looked at it.
ProfDru: It should be there, Selma, but if not it can be downloaded.
AYWalton: oh yes, you have to go after those collateral ancestors as well, Statustray.
ProfDru: It is speech recognition software.
Statustray: that's so very true AYWalton.
AYWalton: so there is a free one in every computer ProfDru?
kim: oh yes I've heard of it
ProfDru: yep
Statustray: ProfDru: I used to use this package called Dragon Dictate many years ago and it was so nice and slick. It had 'dictation' mode, and also 'command' mode. Now I have the technology by Dragon Dictate on my android phone too ;-)
Daviss: Kim here is the link to use. click on afrigeneas and in the search line put in Samuels. It will bring up all of them http://www.afrigeneas.com/search.html
kim: thanks so much
ProfDru: yes, Dragon is a great software package.
Statustray: it may be called Dragon Naturally Speaking (or something similar) now. It has changed its name a couple of times.
Daviss: what is the title listed on the puter Dru? I cant seem to find it
ProfDru: I'
AYWalton: did someone just leave the room? I heard the chime.
Daviss: looks like kim did the daviss lol
Statustray: Kim left.
ProfDru: I'm using Windows 7 and is it is called Speech Recognition Software. Try looking in Accessories folders.
Daviss: wb kim

AYWalton: ahhh there are free packages. Interesting.
ProfDru: I have the one that came with my computer, alt.
Daviss: same as you but durn if I see it
AYWalton: Might be a great way to "transribe" many of my text records from the Archives. Like FB records. then it can be saved as a Word file, ProfDru?
ProfDru: Vicky, you can do a search for voice recognition software in Windows 7
kim: glad to know I have it will try it later
Daviss: I cant even find accessories lol
ProfDru: yes, saved as a word file, angela
alt: I just bough a 'netbook bout 2 months ago and it just has the 'Starter" Windows 7.
ProfDru: alt, try using the search feature in Windows 7 to see if you have software
Statustray: wow, that's interesting, i didn't know the netbooks came with 7.... that's cool.

Daviss: that is so true Selma
kim: I just looked in my accessories and I don't have it. I have windows 7
ProfDru: kim, maybe you can download it from Internet
kim: thanks
Daviss: lol I could not find accessories but I did a search and it came up for me
alt: I think there are two editions of Window 7 .. starter & complete. pehaps that is the difference.
