Brigham Family

I am a descendant of Jim Brigham of Neylandville. My uncle George Washington Brigham passed away almost 8 years ago and the last Brigham man from that lineage just passed away 2 years ago. William Eugene Brigham Sr. His Mom was Mary Belle (Bean)Brigham and his father was Zebedie Brigham.
We reached out to Ladayne in Neylandville and had a wonderful reunion before he suddenly passed away from a brain anuerisym. William has six kids and uncle George had I think 4.

We are celebrating the life of the Brighams!
We are indeed one of the 'First Families' of Texas.

I have heard down the line that 'Jim' started the first Juneteenth celebration, because he gave refuge to freed slaves in Texas after General Granger read his proclamation. Slaves were given clothes to wear, food to eat, a place to live and taught how to read.

If anyone has anymore info, please let me know. When we go to Neylandville we pass, 'Brigham's Cemetary,' but was told that was for the white Brighams. There is a founders cemetery in Neylandville for the Black Brigham's. It has been deemed an historical landmark. Facinating to go and view history!!!

Brigham's still abide in Neylandville today!!!
