Re: You are part Indian/Cherokee? Which part?
In Response To: You are part Indian/Cherokee? Which part? ()
In most ways I agree. This question only comes up when a black indian says something about -- a white cherokee is the first response most white indians say. So many people i have met when I let them know that I was raised as an indian and that my mother always took us out of the realm of "black" no disrespect intended--the first response i get from the white is oh im Cherokee. It seems when all else fails all whites are Cherokee--few I have come in contact with have said only Cherokee--unless you live in Oklahoma--and that is also a thought for I had a chance to go the Chickasaw Hospital in Ada a ole white looking lady was there and the nurse ask her what degree of blood and she said "oh im Irish but I got a little chickasaw" we laughed. But the blacks oh no they cant be indian -- only the whites can claim at their convenience.
