Re: Creek Freedmen Descendants
In Response To: Re: Creek Freedmen Descendants ()
Mr. Taylor,I read your post and I appreciate the kind words you said about me and my organization. My main objective is to gain justice for all freedmen of all the tribes. We all share a same common denominator--we are descendants of slaves from all five tribes,so therefore, we all should be mentioned in the same breath.
Yes I am a Choctaw by Blood and I am also a Chickasaw freedmen descendant, I realize that the issue not about me, it is about all of us and our history. Since I have been engaged in this issue,I have recognized the injustices of all the Freedmen therefore making this issue much larger than me and that's why in my language it's always freedmen of all tribes and thier treaty rights.
My organization is the Choctaw Chickasaw Freedmen Association of Oklahoma, but it's not limited to just Choctaws and Chickasaws, as anyone can join. We welcome you. It's not about just becoming a citizen of the nations, it's about discovering and teaching the rich history that the Freedmen from all the tribes posesses. So as we prevail in this fight for justice the work must continue with teaching and educating our children and grandchildren about this rich history of the Freedmen. We must do what our Oklahoma history books did not do.
