Ok gotcha! I see that Scipio Bruner lived around Brackettville TX, and he was also one of the Seminole Negro Indian Scouts!
He has a fascinating history actually. The Scipio that I see in TX was the son of Joseph and Dinah. Joseph was born in Alabama, and Dinah was born in Arkansas, but clearly they were part of the Black Seminole Community in Bracketville. Scipio and his siblings were all born in Mexico. The Seminole community of Bracketville were part of those who migrated to Mexico in the late 1840s and early 50s. Many returned to the US after the Civil War and settled near Ft. Clark, in the town of Bracketville. You can see Scipio in the 1880 census as a young man, living with his family, but you can also see a record of his enlistment as a scout in the US military. It is not certain whether Caesar Bruner and Joseph (Scipio's father) were related or not.
