Re: Researching the Slaveholder and Family

Thanks Ms. One for the information on researching the slaveholder, I'm on the hunt for Ala-hun-tubby. That's the name listed on my great-grandfather, Simmion Lamey's card #888, Chickasaw Freedmen. However, in the Dawes packet, Simmion said he belonged to Lamey and his mother Rose belonged to same family. The back of the Dawes card list Simmion's father as Lamey, the father's owner-Chick Ind and his mother as Rose Alahuntubby. Simmion's brother, William Lamey, Chickasaw Freedmen, card #329. The Dawes packet oral info, William said he belonged to a full-blood Chickasaw, Alahuntubby. William's father is Lamey; father's owner-Chick Ind and his mother as Rose Lamey. Mother's owner Lo-hun-tubby. We'll see how far we get this time. My cousin, Mark and I hit brick walls but I'll let you know where this research takes us. Appreciate you and your encouragement.
