The most likely origin of the name "Cuzzie" is that it is adapted from the name "Kizzie." There are two possible origins for the name Kizzie in American culture. One is that it is adapted from the Bible and a daughter of Job named Keziah. The other is that Kizzie is adapted from Ghana slaves of the Fanti people who used the name for a child born after twins. I believe Alex Haley alluded to this in his book about one of his ancestors, but I'm not sure.
