Re: Shoe Boots - Does anyone have history of this
In Response To: Re: Shoe Boots - Does anyone have history of this family ()
I am a citizen of the cherokee nation while doing family research i have came in contact with these people. In my ggrandmother's dawes enrolled packet she say her mother died when she was only 2 or 3 years old and she was rasied by old woman Childers this would be about 1875 Honey Creek area I.T.
Her mother was Delema Jones on the 1851 Old Settlers Roll we do not know the name of Delema mother but with her saying she was rasied by a Childers there is a good change she may have been a Childers.
These people were in the Deleware District Cherokee Nation early it say in records that Cherokee Major Ridge bought land off of Jones and Blevins these are my people who were already there well before the removal. It also say that there was a William Childers a ferryman back east for Ridge, he emigrated with the Ridge family to I.T.
In this book Mr. Miles says that William Childers a clerk in the Ridge family general store, married a cherokee woman by the name of Maria Boots either a daughter or granddaughter of Shoe Boots and Doll.
There are marriage records of cherokee Childers and my known line back east which is Wilkerson and Jones.
