Re: Anderson & Shepherd Cole Application

Allen & fellow researchers,
I have relied on the family narrative to find several important facts. My mom is a ggggranddaughter to Ezekiel and I am a gggggrand.
Narrative - Original Name Cole
Narrative - Served in War of 1812, Battle of Horseshoe Bend, under Andrew Jackson, Tennessee Militia:
I have a miltiary record for Ezekiel Cole in the East Tenn Vol Mounted Infantry, Capt John Chiles Company commanded by Col. John Brown.
Ezekiel's migration to Cass County Michigan in documented in a book written by Howard Rogers, History of Cass County. Ezekiel was reported as being a 3rd "coloured family" to arrive in Cass County in 1845. The document states he served under General Jackson under the name Ezkiel Cole. Which also validates the narrative. ( I will need to to get the year the book was published)
Birth Location: The narrative does not identify a state.
The 1850 census - Ezekiel shows South Carolina, approx b) 1790
Ezekiel's children state his birth state as South Carolina or Tennessee. Mother always Kentucky.
One last point about Winnie, I believe her correct name is Winna Ann not Winnie Esther. Her death record found on the GENDIS in Michigan, Cass County as (W)Minna Anderson, parents Isaac & Clata Gowan. She also had a daughter named Winna Ann. I would like to confirm, maybe in a Goin family bible or record.
Sorry for the long response. I just wanted to share what documents I have and what I understand about the Ezekiel story.
