Re: Anderson & Shepherd Cole Application
In Response To: Re: Anderson & Shepherd Cole Application ()
How wonderful to read about the research on my ggggrandfather Ezekiel Cole Anderson.
My mother Ruth Anderson Walker has the oral narrative passed down through the family. Ezekiel was said to be full blooded indian. The story would best be told by my mom, but let me share what I understand. Ezekiel's parent were killed in a raid or massacre, he being a child was spared but taken home by a white man named Anderson. He said the raid occurred out west when he was 12 years old? Where is out west? We do not know nor what tribe.
The Anderson & Shepherd Application is great but I do not think the age groups would be correct to place Ezekiel as a brother. We estimate around 1790 and Anderson & Shepherd in 1830's.
I do have Ezekiel's militiary record for 1814 as Ezekiel Cole, I have his marriage record to Winna Ann Goin and their trail from Logan Cty, Ky to Illinois, first to Crawford County (1818) next to Lawrence Cty by 1830 and final in Adams Cty, Il (1840)before traveling to Cass Cty, MI. 1850
We estimate he was born in 1790 in South Carolina, his tombstone stated he was 61 at dead. Winna was born approx 1798, in (Logan Cty)Kentucky, her parents were Isaac & Clata (?) Goin. The 1810 census, Logan Cty, Ky shows Isaac (Free Person) with 10 in the household.
I have also found a record for an Elizbeth Goin married to Isaac Porter in 1812 Logan Cty, Ky.
Ezekiel and Winnie had only 10 documented children all identified in Michigan with Illinois births.
Thank You all so much
