However, if we know for one fact that some of us did actually have a Native American as an ancestor then leave it at that, and let yourself know for sure that what you gathered has some facts to it. Yes some of us do have Native American ancestry, however many of us do not know the exact tribe, so what many of us did claim the ancestry of the Cherokee, when most likely we shuld have said that we did not know. My greatgrandmother Rachael was indeed a C herokee because as time went on the news that did come down the line proved that she was, however someone named Lucy was a Native American, but her family did not know what tribe she was, and though Cherokees existed in N.C., her family said she was Cherokee when she could have been Chippewa or Catawba or Tuscarora.
