Vote NO Today

Descendants of Cherokee freedmen must vote NO today, even if it must be casting a challenged ballot. We are aware that many people were denied the right to participate in this election because they were arbitrarily moved to the "at large" district and not given any information regarding the upcoming vote or how or when to request an absentee ballot. Polling places are listed on the CHerokee nation election commission website at: http://www.cherokee.org/TribalGovernment/Election/

Some will be denied the right to participate in the election for reasons such as living too far to drive in to vote a "challenged ballot", or their registrations are still being in process. We recommend that you write a letter to the BIA office in WAshington DC and in Muskogee protesting this election, both the fact that it is being held, and any problems you have had with participation in this election. Information to contact the BIA is at: www.doi.gov. BIA head in Washington DC is James Cason.
To write to the director of the Muskogee Area office the address is:
Department of Interior, Bia
3100 West Peak Boulevard, Muskogee, Okla. 74401
Please send a copy of the letter you write to: Descendants of Freedmen, Box 42221, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123
