Further Analysis of Ezekiel ANDERSON'S Story
In Response To: Re: How Accurate is The Information? ()
Thanks for clearing the John ANDERSON hurdle. However, Allenís latest post seems to indicate that Ezekiel arrived in Lawrence County, Illinois already laden with the surname ANDERSON and he may well have been related to the COLES who were apparently of a darker hue.
It is interesting to note that Ezekiel was enumerated, as mulatto, in Lawrence County in 1840 and 1830. In addition there was six other mulatto families-surnamed ANDERSON- enumerated in Lawrence County: Jeff, William, A., Si, and two widows.
Other Census Data:
1860-MI-Cass-Porter Township-Page 243(?)
W. Anderson 60 female mulatto Kentucky
1870-MI-Cass-Porter Township-Page 192A:
Anderson, Winey 70 female mulatto Kentucky
Next Door: (page 192B):
Anderson, Amon 27 male mulatto Illinois
With this census data and Allenís post I would say the Indian raid story (which is, actually, on critical analysis, a white folks raiding an Indian settlement story) is rendered null and void.
