Re: Nelson County VA plantations
In Response To: Re: Nelson County VA plantations ()
Hi Belinda, You must be one of my cousins. The plantation in Wingina was named the "Swan Creek Plantation", owned by the Cabell family (pronounced CABBLE). It was located along Cabell Rd. an route 604. Most of our original family members lived at these locations: Liberty Hall, Soldiers Joy, Union Hall, and Edgewood in the old town of Warminster near the mouth of the Swan Creek, just off of the James River. Many descendants still live in this area, between the Mayo Creek and Swan Creek. Lovingston, Wingina, Nelson County, Virginia Here are the list of family surnames starting around 1790, left to me by my grandmother Carlie Ann Allen: Allen (George, Julia, Alex, Walter Morris)
This is the foundation with others who married into these families; Rives, Shelton, Brown, Terrell, and Armstead. Messages In This Thread
