Slaves-Littleberry Ellis Estate
I have been researching my ancestor Albert Ellis who I believe may have been owned by William C. Ellis son of Littleberry Ellis.
Littleberry died in Hinds County, Mississippi on June 20, 1840 and his will was probated December 6, 1842. The bulk of his property and was given to his son Wm. C. Ellis and the rest to the children of his late daughter.
(NOTE: Names and ages were not listed, nor were how many children the slaves had).
1. Abram, his wife Oney, and their children
I will have to research further to see who are the parents or parent of 3rd great-grandfather Albert Ellis.
1850 Slave Schedule (Hinds County, MS)- He owned 10 slaves, I believe the 3 yr. old to be Albert.
In 1853 William C. Ellis moved his family and slaves to Columbia, Caldwell Parish, LA
1860 Slave Schedule (Caldwell Parish, LA)- He owned 21 slaves, I believe the 12 yr. old to be Albert
Found in 1870 (Columbia, LA) listed with his wife and family:
Margaret had 2 children from previous relationships.
1880 (Columbia, LA)
The picture is of Nora at age: 47 during the 1920's. This is a big photo and my cousin only has a camera phone hence the glare.
