Harris Descendant/Granville County, N.C.

Posted By: btaylor?Date: Sunday, 9 April 2006, at 10:37 a.m.

I am at a brick wall. There isn't a death certificate for my great grandfather who died April 9, 1920(Crocket Harris). The Thorton Library had funeral records of an establishment started in 1906 Upchurch & Currin Funeral Home that was owned by (White's). The information that was recorded was his name and a death date. No burial, No Age, etc. According, to North Carolina a death certificate was required after 1913. I wrote North Carolina in Raleigh to obtain a death certificate that researched from 1920-29. They had no record. I am also trying to find his parents name and other siblings. Marriage record(registry) in the court house in Granville indicated only a marriage license but wasn't returned to record. It only indicated 1885 Granville, N.C. Oxford this would have been a Second Marriage. My great grandfather was seen married in the 1870 in Walnut Grove township, Granville, N.C.(First Marriage) He was born l834. His first son was born 1862(Willis Harris). I see a Willis Harris in 1880 census living in Granville, Henderson and thought this could be his relative and two in Vance, Henderson in the 1900-1910. Please help!!!!!
