morris king

hi I have been researching my ancestors trying to find any or all the information that I can, I have hit a brick wall with morris king. He was married to my ggggrandmother emma parks who is the daughter of george and mary elizabeth parks who I am also researching. I have found out that morris was born abt btwn 1840 and 1845 in georgia. I cant find out anything past 1870 on him. this is what I have so far:

In October 1890 San Canty, Morris King, and R.L. Gomez, trustees for the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church purchased a lot from the Luverne Land Co. on which King's Chapel, the first black church in the community, would be built.

PARKS-Lizzie Parks,Colored,who had been living with Morris King (colored) 1 and 1/2 mile east of Luverne,died last Friday,she was said to be 110 years old.She was one of the oldest Negro mammies in the county. She neither ate nor drank anything for 15 days before death relieved her.

(Abstract from The Luverne Journal - Dec. 15,1948)

Guthrie King, local negro was stabbed to death at his home in Luverne Saturday night by his wife. The oversized negro man died almost instantly after the long knife pierced his heart from the hand of his wife. The woman is in the County Jail. Many of the colored people of Luverne are destroyed over the killing.
