Hi, I am having trouble finding my ggg grandparents Caroline Fruge and Emmanuel or Manuel Young in the louisiana census in 1870 at st. landry parish. According to catholic records, Emmanuel married Caroline November 15 1870 at St. Landry Parish. I did find my ggg grandmother in 1880 at st. landry parish:
Young, Caroline 50, mulatto, widow
Edmund 15, mulatto,son
Leonore 13, mulatto,daughter(gg grandmother)
living nearby was:
Gallot, Valmon 48,mulatto, head
, Amelie 37,mulatto, wife
L.Oval 10,mulatto,son
Onezime 4,mulatto,son
In the catholic records of Father Hebert, I found a marriage between Valmon Gallot and Amelie Manuel YOUNG in 1868. Amelie lists her parents as being Manuel YOUNG and Caroline FRUGE. So, amelie must be Caroline's daughter. I found Manuel YOUNG on the 1880 death index. He died at age 60 in st. landry parish. Also Caroline Fruge parents according to father hebert's marriage was Lastie FRUGE and Rose LITTEL?. Interesting, the Lastie Fruge I found throughout the records was a white man. I would appreciate any tips locating my
relatives in the 1870 census.
