I'm trying to trace any relatives of my great-grandmother, Bellephine Palmer Morrill of Wilcox County, AL. but have had little luck. I know it's hard to go backwards into slavery but I was hoping
to find some of her more recent relations. She only had one child, my grandfather.
In a 1930 letter to the Pension Office, she said her mother's name was Aggie Haywood and her step-father was John Haywood. (Both are in the 1870 census.)She also said she had a half-sister named Rachel Maxey of Selma and lived with half-brothers Alex, Elijah, Dexter and Randall Dexter of Camden. I've been unable to trace any of them.
