In a week I am driving thru Little Rock, Ark, Oxford, Miss. and Murfreesboro, Ten. checking out where Matthew Franklin Locke (1824 to 1922) lived. He was the Speaker of the House of Texas just prior to the Civil War, then was the first Sec. of Agriculture in Arkansas after the Civil War. Is your family related to him?

He married Elizabeth Amanda Buie in 1849. after he death in 1864 he married Narcissa Amanda Montgomery in 1865 ... the dau. of Maj. Samuel Montogomery of Northern Miss.
