Re: Malinda Marsalis
In Response To: Re: Malinda Marsalis ()

WOW what a rapid response. First i'd like to thank you for all your reserch!
I didn't think that someone find the info as fast as I did, but you did.
As I stated in my previous post that I could find Malinda from 1880-1920
so that much I knew. Now 1870 I don't know that much about, but none the less, I have my suspicions for which I hit a (brick wall)or an inpass.

I don't believe the Causey theory I've reserched it does not fit!

Is Erasmus Marsalis the father of RAS MORGAN:

That's what I thought until my grandmother told me that grandpa Ras'
father is a Moore, and my great uncle (Ras' son) told me Bob Wilson was Ras' father! Dolsy's daugther told me that Wilford Morgan is supposed to be grandpa's father but I asked her what did he look like, she said he was blue black, so it is not possable that wilford was the father, but for what ever reason she gave him the morgan name. They never lived together nor were they ever married!

The Erasmus Marsalis of the 1900 census that you "mention" is not the same
person! I know this because of the off spring,in 1900 he used the name
Iven morgan. why? I don't know, but what I do know is that the name that appears next family in the 1900 census is the Moore's household, so I wonderd why would someone would share a first name with grandpa, so what my grandma said make sense "that a Moore is his father" I can't prove it, I've moved on but who know's.

As far as Malinda goes I'm looking for her parents, like I said before
I don't think she's a Causey. I need to find Marsalis' slave owners that had wills, tax records documation that might hold the info that I seek!
Since most slave owners are settle in upper Natchez I would hope to find her in that area in 1860 or her family.

I known of one time in the census that she was listed as a widow, but as far as I can tell and what I was told by her grandkids is that she was never married. I got this from three of Ras' kids that are still living and one of Dolsy kids that is still living they all say she was not married.
It made me wonder why she is listed as a widow. I just remember the phone call I had the other day with one of Ras daugthers in which said
"back in those days the old folks told you what they wanted you to know"
and that wasn't much!
And none of Ras' kids know who Malinda parents are, nor do Dolsy kids.

I think I know who it is and I thought that someone would be able to confrim it for me by coming up with the same..
I've been a researching for 3 months now! When it comes to the slave records I'mm lost. I don't know how to search them but on my the other side I was able to track that side back to the boat, so to speak. (1725)up to(1930)
So if anyone has any seen or know where to find wills of Marsalis or Thomas Marsalis in the Meadville or Natchez area Amite, MS.

I Would like to thank you Gwen for all your help, and for any help forth comming and to all the people posted replies thank you for you intrest, if you can help please do!

AGAIN THANKS!
MIKE

PS and if there is anything I can do to help anyone please let me know.
