Re: [WAR & PEACE ] Just Imagine
In Response To: [WAR & PEACE ] Just Imagine ()

: Just imagine receiving a phone call at 7:00 am on Sunday morning.
: When the phone rings that early you know it's got to be family.

: Me: Hello

: Mom: Did I awake you? Did you see the news last night?

: Me: No Mom, I have been trying not to watch the war coverage.

: Mom: You need to watch it. Did you see the black man that threw the
: hand grenade in the tent on his own soliders?

: Me: No Mom. I had the news on last night, but I really did not pay
: attention to it. I was half asleep.

: Mom: Well, I saw it and the man that threw the hand grenade looks
: just like "John" **

: Me: Mom, I really don't thik "John" has lost his mind,
: but I will get up and see what I can find out.

: Mom: Okay, I'm at work and I'm glad so that I won't be watching the
: news.

: Me: Mom, I'll call you later on your cell phone.

: Mom: Okay, bye.

: **************
: The above conversation was a phone call from my mom upset because
: the picture of the man that threw the hand grenade resembled my
: brother, "John" (Note: John is not his real name)
: She's at work a the hospital, outside on her cell phone. Just
: imagine hearng your Mom upset and you being afraid to turn on
: the tv to see this person that she is talking about.

: I did some praying and called up my sister and informed her about
: our conversation. She had also "heard" about the
: incident, but had not seen the picture. She said she would turn
: on the news and we would talk later.

: I flipped MSNBC and CNN back and forths listening to the news of
: the morning. They both talked about the incident but did not
: show the picture until I was about 10 minutes into the news. I
: finally saw the picutre of the man. His bowed head did resemble
: my brother's head, but that was the only resemblance I saw. His
: body structure was much larger and I was convinced that it
: definitely was not him. They finally mentioned that he had an
: "Arabic sounding" name. So, that ruled him out. They
: finally announed that he was a Muslim and they gave his name.
: That ruled him out. I was relieved that I could now phone my mom
: to assure her that this was not her "baby" boy.

: ******
: Mom: Hello

: Me: Mom, I saw the picture and they have finally given a name of
: the solider and it is not, "John"

: Mom: Oh, what a relief!

: (I hear moaning in the background)

: Me: Mom, this was really scary.

: Mom: I know. I'm okay now.

: Me: Okay Mom, I will talk to you later.

: ************

: I know that there are more frightening things that have and will
: happen throughout this time of war, but I just can not describe
: the feeling that I had on Sunday morning. I'm praying that my
: Mom will stay away from the TV some, but I know that she won't.
: Her health problems alone should be a reason for her to stay
: away from the coverage. She's much more relieved because he
: called her last night. He's doing okay.

: Thanks for letting me share.

: Pray for peace and love.

: Regina

My goodness! Regina, your Mom and the rest of you and your family will remain in our thoughts and prayers. No one should have to go through this, what has this country come to?

Sharon
