So right! That is reality! Then as I look into the eyes of each of them, I do not know their pain, I cannot feel their pain, and I will say that whatever the suffering is now at this time I can only say thank God I am not there; yet, I, beyond the fact that they are soldiers who are fit for battle and so forth, I can still have deep sympathy because they are human. Yes, I know someone will say so are the Iraqi, and they would be right. If I see the faces of them spread across the screen as such, or see a woman holding a dead baby in her arms, I will feel sympathy, because it is within me to feel that way. Yes I feel sympathy for the pows, and hope and pray to God, or to Allah, or to That Supreme Being over us, that these POW will soon be free and come home safely.
I think about Viet Nam, because I came out of that era, when my cousins and even some of my buddies went to fight in the jungles, or along the Mekong Delta, or some rice paddies. I think about those times as well, the POWs. My heart goes out to each and everyone, and I will never erase the eyes and the face of the lady being held there.
