Re: [My Opinion] The War
In Response To: [My Opinion] The War ()

: Many years ago on radio station WOL, I heard Bob Law, the civil
: rights activist in New York use the phrase ďcognitive denial.Ē
: (You say the sky is blue and the other person says/swears it
: isnít.) That was many years ago but phrases like that sort of
: stick with me. I remember a woman listener calling in one night
: telling him that when her friends ask her what she going to do
: that evening, she would reply ďIím going to Law school.Ē You
: people living in the N.Y area and can get him on WLIB are truly
: fortunate.

: Since those early days of WOL- now Radio One-I have tried my best
: to avoid people and situation that would drain my energies with
: cognitive denial issues. I found that if you donít want to get
: your blood pressure up and avoid a 99% chance of a physical
: confrontation, you leave those situations alone wherever and
: whenever you encounter them. And if you are brave enough to try
: to convince them the sky is blue, you will only impregnate
: another issues and on and on it goes. There are lots of
: metaphors for what I am saying.

: So here I am. Not unlike a lot of people being hit to my very soul
: with cognitive denial issues. Things people are telling me
: should make sense to me and especially if I am an American and
: non Anti-Semetic Patriot. Iím talking about the war and the
: efforts ALL of us made to avert it. Iím talking about how our
: reasoning that the sky was blue to the President and many others
: has been turned and with little subtlety or shame, diabolically
: distorted thereby producing serious mental harm to many. I am
: talking about not being able to defend oneself from cognitive
: denial issues that are now just as pervasive as dog sh--!
: I am talking about being bombarded with the clinical meaning of
: madness.

: I am remember when Ginger Rogers was commenting on her award
: winning dancing tributes with Fred Astair, she said that she had
: to do it backwards and in heels. I personally can not think
: backwards. As a matter of fact, I canít dance at all but that is
: another story. I can not think contrary to processes Iíve
: learned and lived with for decades and what has in the past been
: called sanity.

: I am doing a lot of listening now to Pacifica radio but I am now so
: suspicious of everything going on in the media, I canít even
: hear what I know I am hearing. Have mercy what our Ancestors had
: to endure for over four hundred years. Makes me want to weep and
: my name ainít Mary. I do, somehow and through it all, remain
: optimistic.
: (That's the kind of guy I am.)

: Fighting for the dignity of my Ancestors,
: BB

BB, by your conversation concerning Bob Law, WOL, and even Pacifica I imagine you have been around this area for a long time, and I say it more as a positive thought and with proudness. Yet, I know what you are talking about here, and your message is great indeed. I listen to WOL, now called Radio One, and I listen to the Joe Madison show early in the morning. You know that particular show is heard through XM now, and it attempts to reach throughout the entire nation, which is something else I am about to say. I listen to this show which has a lot of good thoughts and a lot of other good things, and I hear people like Faunlteroy and Dick Gregory and Maxine Waters, and Frances Cress Welsing, and they make good points, however, all of this seem to be lost throughout the day when people like Shawn Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, G.Gordon Liddy gets on the air waves and become the mouthpieces for the entire Nation, calling Liberals and Democrats crazy, calling Peace Protestors Traitors, and of course their favorite punching bag Clinton. Then other folks like the dittoheads seemed to go with it, and once you hear them, you begin to think like them if you fall into their theme of talking. Agree? Joseph
