Re: [My Opinion] Dr. Fulani on Rev. Sharpton

I just read a part of this scathing document Dr. Lenora Fulani wrote in reference to Rev. Al Sharpton.

“During my nearly 20-year history with him, I have seen him become ensnared in a dangerous trap, one that is a political dead-end for him and, more importantly, for Black America. I have seen him set aside the visionary for the viable. I have seen him try to recreate himself as a progressive, out of expedience – not principal. I have seen him become what is, sadly, a second rate Black leader.”

I have sincere humanitarian concerns about a person writing this kind of essay about anyone who was an intricate part of his/her support system. A person who shared all of your joys and tears as you took a bid to run for President of the U.S.A. and a person who shared his most intimate thoughts with you and considered you a friend. Now he is running for the same office you ran for 20 years earlier.

After reading that article, I’m sure Rev. Sharpton would feel no greater pain than Caesar felt from Brutus.

Song: “Scandalized my Name” sung by Paul Roberson

“I met my sistuh de other day
I gave her my right hand
an’ soon as ever my back was turned
She scandalized my name.

Now is dat a sistuh,
Now is dat a sistuh,
Now is dat a sistuh,
Scandalized my name.”
