Re: [NEWS & Notes] SNOW OF THE YEAR IN D.C. METRO

: We got 26.6 inches. It started snowing at 3 am Saturday morning and stopped around 10 am. We shoveled ourselves out on Saturday and that wasn't too bad. It was light weight snow. Then it started snowing late Satuday night and did not stop until 10:30 on Monday morning. We have an accumulation of 26 inches. You could still get around on Saturday and it there was anything that you wanted, that was the time to get it.

We kept looking out he window at the accumulation but did nto realize the actual accumulation until we went out this morning to shovel. You had to find places to put the snow. The snow was up to the windows of our cars. Thank God for our snow blower! That was the greatest help. We shoveled paths between the cars in our driveway and used the snow blower to clear the path in our alley in order to get to the street. We still have more to do tomorrow. We didn't want to overdo it today.

Schools are closed, but the employees have to report to work. Now, wouldn't you think that if the students can't get to school, the employees can't either. (Duh) My job was closed today, but I have not heard anything about tomorrow. A lot of the main roads are passable, but getting out of our neighborhood is impossible right now. Getting down one way streets with cars on both sides is not possible. You can't enjoy your snow day off because you got to shovel, shovel, and shovel. Mass transit was not running today either.

We do have plenty of food, snacks and and the essentials in the house. I saw on the news where the storm is now in NY, CT and Boston areas.

I'm just about on the edge of cabin fever though. :-(
