Now, one of my 26 first cousins is six months older than I. She and I would go to the neighborhood movie house everytime the features changed...about two times a week. We got to see two full length features, a "chapter" play, and cartoon for about 10 cents. We lived at the movies. On special occasions, we would stop at the old neighborhood hamburger grill where the "grownups" hung out. There would always be a bunch of people there transacting "policy" business. It was all very mystical to my cousin and I. The "policy" man had his strips of paper,
ink pen and brief case in hand. He was snappily dressed in his three piece, pen striped suit and wide brim hat. He was "da man!" I remember adults talking about dreaming numbers. Oh! the excitement when a relative or close neighbor hit! "Policy" was the great forerunner to the "lottery". LOL.
