The statement she made about a wise Latina woman was taken completely out of context, and had to do with a statement made by someone else that *a wise old man and a wise old woman* would come to the same conclusions on cases..
Sotomayor did not agree with that because she believes (rightly so) that gender/race/life experience do have something to do with how someone comes to a conclusion on a case...
In my opinion, it has something to do with any decision anyone makes...And rather than say Sotomayor is racist OR sexist because she quipped that a wise Latina woman would make a better decision on anything than a white male, we should probably realize it was just a remark similar to remarks we all make from time to time along the lines of *anything you can do, I can do better*.. It's not a reflection of racism or sexism, but more one of competitiveness..
