Re: Female ~ sexist ?
In Response To: Re: Female ~ sexist ? ()
You said "We are living in a time though that women still do not make the same amount of money as men for the same jobs." You are correct in saying that. See: http://www.bankrate.com/dls/news/career/Nov06_gender_gap_a1.asp You said "I do think that if women ruled the world it would be a more peaceful place. Historically most wars have been started by men." History does not bear witness to that statement. First, the statement would lead one to believe that when Congress passes legislation funding wars, women absent themselves from the vote. Second, the statement discounts women warriors such as Joan of Arc, Queen Boudicca/Boudicia, Lozen of the Apaches, and others. You said "....if Hillary Clinton was president now, we might already be at war with Iran....." That may be true, but we wouldn't be at war with Iran as Americans. If Hilary Clinton were president right now, Chinese would be the national language. You said "he emailed me back asking me if I was black and I told him yes. Then this young man dissapeared off the face of this earth..........There was guilt all within his email. To me that was racism." Maybe it was prejudice. I don't think it rose to the level of racism, though. You said "I am sure there are still disproportionately more white men in higher positons than blacks, Latino's and women. In that case, to many, white men represent the highest level of achievement. In my opinion, when Ms Sotomayor made that statement, she was saying you can be better than the best, the best being white men." I do not accept that as a defense for a person who seeks to sit on the highest court in the land. There is no wiggle room when it comes to meteing out justice. The statement SHE made was racist.
