Mel has the book, and has already pointed out one error on the website. Perhaps there are others. I did notice, though, that the website says many people claim to be descendants of Robert Smalls who are not.

Perhaps the person who put the family history of Robert Smalls together for the website, or the author of the book Mel recommends, could answer some of the questions you have.
