You can always order the microfilm directly from the National Archives, but the Approved files for Alabama consists of 36 rolls of microfilm! You should first try to determine if the person you are searching for Appears in the records.

Follow the 'step-by-step' search guidelines listed on the site below:
It will walk you through the process of researching the Southern Claims Commission Records.

I don't know how far you've gotten in your research, but you will first have to determine if the person you are looking for is in the records of the Southern Claims Commission. Did he file a claim? Where? Was it approved, disallowed or barred?
If he didn't file, does he appear as a witness for someone that did file?

The site below has the list of claimants (in a PDF file) by state.
3) Determine if your ancestor appeared in the 'Approved', "Barred', or "Disallowed" files.
4) Consult the Approved Guide to determine WHICH Microfilm rolls (of the 36 available) may contain the testimony of your ancestor.
5) The Consolidated Index of Claims will (also) have the list of disallowed and barred claims. Look at the online publication (called Descriptive Pamphlet M1407) for Barred and Disallowed Case Files to determine whether the person you are looking for is in one of these files.
Once you locate the person, you then will have the details needed to order the record, or the specific microfilm containing more information.

If you don't find the person you are looking for, then you can resort to another plan - looking through the case files of known and suspected family, friends, neighbors, and community members to find any reference to your ancestor.

Another option at this point is to locate a public library nearby that has the microfilm OR can do an inter-library loan from other libraries.

Please re-post if you have any additional questions along the way.
