I looked up Irene Schumaker specifically on Genealogybank but I didn't get any returns. I went to the African American section for Tennessee Genealogybank and checked to see if they had African American newspapers. There was one in Nashvilee called Justice. It however I believe it ran for one year in the mid-1800s.

I went to the Nashville public library to see what they offered in the way of genealogical services. It said they had an obituary index but I couldn't figure out how to make it return results last night. I returned today and got this page which I hope helps you find the obituary for both individuals.
