In Response To: ARCENEAUX ()

Dear Carol,
I'm sorry to inform you that I have never been in the miltary service. From 1665 to 1748 my ancestors lived in Canada. From 1748 until 1938 my family lived in Louisiana. From 1938 until 1954 my family lived in Washington, D.C. Then from 1954 until 2001 we lived in Florida. From 2001 until today we live in Alabama. Just a note of possible interest I am caucasion. I have discovered by means of census records that up until the 1860 census records that some of my ancestors had small families of slaves 1-5 at maximum. My ancestors had very small farms and these slave families helped work the farm until their own children were old enough to work the land. Once this happened the need for these slaves no longer exsisted so they were freed. I don't know the names of these slaves and haven't found any other records besides the census records. I can only guess that some of then took the ARCENEAUX name once they were freed.
I hope this can be of help. Fred Arceneaux
