On the Eve of Black History Month: Your Recommendations for the Best on the Web

Sometimes I'm a bit ambivalent about Black History Month. There is so much historical information on the web about African-Americans' active participation in shaping our country. But yet every year the well meaning media just skims the surface when they present our history. Television, film, magazines and newspapers seem to re-run and re-hash many of the justly deserved profiles of African-Americans. There is so Much More to Tell. It's as if February is a side bar to American history.

Rather than complain about it, I think that we should do something about it. Afrigeneas, the most respected black genealogical and historical website is our conduit for informing the public and most of all our children, about our incredible history.

I hope that you will join me in sharing your thoughts about African-Americans, your ancestors and family or friends who've contributed to our rich history and culture. They could be inventors, soldiers, writers, musicians, scientists, historians, entrepreneurs, publishers, labor leaders, activists.... Anyone or anything you believe will inspire us to remember and cherish our heritage. If there is a referenced URL, please include it.

And write away!
