This is an interesting & informative thread because,
I'm finding quite a few Chavis/Chavez/Chavers (in my matches)
from beaver creek sc to robeson nc to louisiana from the 1600s to present day.
I don't know much about That side of family as that ancestor, it's related toan ancestor was an orphan at it's childbirth, by death & raised by other people.

My research /dna matches includes ancestors named ishmael & lazarus chavis & the surnames carpenter, chavers, milhouse ___& there is a ga. ala. chavis line, that include surnames carpenter, cornell, mcgillivray, marchand . Some did migrate to other states & quebec, I still trying to find something to link those 2 branches of Chavis in my research together. - t.b.
