Re: Banana Pudding - Southern Recipe

Good thing I scrolled to the most recent messages, 'cause I was gonna say.... "It's on the box!"
On that 'nella wafer' box.
That is what my mother used and I have followed her footsteps with the same one. Of course it was cut out and placed with our "recipe" stash. Good thing since what is on the box now may not be the old one. I think that recipe is the main reason that we owned a "double-boiler."
I can remember waaay back when we were at church, (out in the country where I lived) and were out for a break and having a spell-down. One girl was given "Vanilla Wafer" and immediately started out with an N. And pronounced her word afterwards as "Nella Wafers" which is likely how she and her family said the word.
If we had not been standing outside, we likely would have rolled on the floor. Us "good" spellers, and speakers laughed and laughed.
And we did not let her forget it in years that followed.... That was more than 50 years ago and she passed away many years ago. But I always think of it when I see a box of "nellla wafers."
