My favorite meal of the day has always been breakfast. My paternal grandmother used to make hoe cakes to sop up with syrup or molasses and fluffy rice and butter for us.
Now what I used to look forward to when visiting my maternal grandparents in Mississippi was a good old fashioned meal of collard greens, made from scratch cornbread and fried chicken. We mashed the greens and cornbread together and ate them with our hands. Good times!
