Re: African Ancestry PatriClan Test Results

My sequence was 99.3% the same as sequences from Bubi people in Bioko Island and Mbundu (a.k.a. Kimbundu) people of Angola.

My initial research of the Bubi people on Bioko Island discovers that in the 19th century, Britain used the island as a base for the Navy’s anti-slavery patrols. Many enslaved Africans rescued from slaving ships were resettled on the Bioko Island. (Source: A genetic journey by Beaula McCalla; Finding Me, an account of a genetic journey to Afrika)

The following is a wonderful story about our Home Land.

In 2003 the BBC2 television documentary Motherland – A Genetic Journey which was made about the project, won a prestigious award, called the One World Media Award. This award exists to support those who use the media to foster understanding, offer a critical voice and recognize the stories that matter to people everywhere. The film was made by Takeaway Media for BBC2.

I will be found by you
and bring you back from your captivity.
I will gather you from all the Nations,
from all the places where I have driven you.
And I will bring you to the place from which I caused you to be carried away captive.

I just realized not everyone may open the post "The First Black Britons" where I just posted the schedule and info for this VERY GOOD documentary. If you have the channel LINK TV you may not want to miss this one! I stumbled across the program already in progress the other morning. I see that it will be aired again today and tomorrow
If you don't have access to this channel there is also info on getting a copy of the documetary on video tape.
