Has anyone used ?

I tested with Family Tree DNA and wanted much more information from my results. Although they were really great in responding to my e-mails, still I needed more. I found this company while surfing that sent me a breakdown of 60 persons that shared my haplotype ( From what I learned later they are a sister company to This cost me $55.00, in addition to the money I spent with FTDNA for HVR-1 and HVR-2 testing.

The 60 persons were all over Africa but mostly along the west/north west and south east coast, three matches were in other countries as well, however I do not attribute much to those matches as they are so isolated from the continent of Africa which has the most matches (Portugal/England/Syria). The largest clusters of matches were in Guinea_Bissau and Mozambique, if I look at the geographical area of Senegal/Sierra Leone/Guinea-Bissau then I have at least a land mass and several folks that tested the same as I. Historically these area's were affected by slavery to the USA.

After reading so much about the company I am wondering how so many are placed into one of two groups? In the report from I was placed in at least 10-15 distinct tribes based on where my mtDNA matches lived. What is the process that AfricanAncestry uses to be so specific about the tribal affiliations of one haploytype to one or two groups? I do not know anyone who tested with personally and I could be wrong about the number, just basing those numbers from what I have read on the internet of others being tested with them. If the company I used has some issues I would like to know that as well.

You can go to the web site to see samples of the report that is sent to you by e-mail. I received my results back in 1 day after emailing them with my markers. I was very happy with the results but do not still know enough about the company to recommend it to anyone. Thanks in advance for any comments.
