3rdthawkins: going real good deannie, things are coming together for me on my father's side

deannie: Great....I have not worked on my father's side much. Because I was raised by my mother.....and my father's (the few I knew where strange) I'm working on going to the St Louis Conference in February

3rdthawkins: my dad's is pretty interesting, I am learning so much, I see what I have missed in my childhood and glad to find out a lot about myself hello Ingrid

3rdthawkins: they weren't Selma, the school my dad went to was predominiately black by the time he attended in the 1960s

3rdthawkins: the Boys wanted to be black and date black, which separted them from their father, the girls were the ones to date/marry non-black men

AYWalton: Selma I am multi-tasking as I am listening to Bernice Bennet on Blog Talk Radio with Antoinette Harrell's show.

Selma: Ok who is Bernice Bennett? and who is Antoinette Harrell?

AYWalton: Bernice lives in DC, Antoinette is down in Louisiana, but producing some nice videos and she has a talk show on Blog Talk Radio.

daviss: 3rd how did you connect with your dad... Did you make the call?

AYWalton: go to and type in Antoinette's name you can listen to the interview.

jhonora: Antoinette has been doing research for about thirteen years or so now

AYWalton: she still has 33 minutes of the show left.

jhonora: She has a genealogy tv show locally

AYWalton: she is on the air right now on blog radio. that's right jhonora she does Lafourche parish as well, I think she said. since I know Bernice, I tuned in.

3rdthawkins: yes daviss, I had found an address for his ex-wife and mailed her a letter, she called me later that week and gave me his number and address, and I called him

AYWalton: I am supposed to be a guest soon.

jhonora: Btw, Selma, I did eventually locate some folks who are descended from the people I was asking about from Richmond. One is a black historian in Richmond. I've learned some great info about the city.

Ingrid_Doweary: That reminds me. I need to send those video links to one of my 1st cousins who's researching family history in Mississippi. That's the ticket, Jhonora. I love to hear of connections made with local historians.

3rdthawkins: daviss, I was just sent some photos from a cousin of my grandparents, I am waiting for an email explaining to me who they are, but a few I believe is of my grandmother, I am hoping and wondering if one of the ones I see is of my grgr gm Jessie Lum Hawkins
