WHITE-GA-1817 to 1860 Subject: Jerusha WHITE who married Cooper Wilbanks It appears that the Jerusha WHITE of Franklin Co., GA., married Ambrose CHANDLER on 3 May 1827 and the marriage performed by Charles D. Dated 25 Aug 1831 and proved in Franklin County Ordinary Court 2 Jan 1843. Mary left part of the plantation on which she lived to Jiny Smith, Sion White, --inda(?) White, Jerusha Chandler, Martin White, Pleasant White, Benjamin H. White, Samuel White, and "Maryan H. Jordan, daughter of Archibald and Elizabeth his wife, my own daughter's child" during the state of celibacy of those who were single and living with her, until Maryan Jordan was twelve years old. When Maryan was twelve the part of the plantation on which she lived was to be sold to the highest bidder and the proceeds to be divided among all of Mary's children. The land that had been cleared and improved by Sion White was to be rented out until Maryan Jordan was twelve and the proceeds divided among her children who were "now married", Jiny Smith, Sion White, Jerusha Chandler, and Benjamin H. White. If any of the unmarried children were to marry before Maryan Jordan reached twelve, he would lose his right to live on the "present occupied premises". Archibald Jordan was to be paid $2.50 and nothing else from the estate, Mary White signed with "X"; witnesses were G. Williams, Jeremiah Walls, and David Hays. ----------------------------------------------- Ambrose and Jerusha Chandler were enumerated on pg. 20 of the 1850 Carroll County, Georgia Census. Ambrose was 45 and Jerusha was 50. He was born in North Carolina; Jerusha was born in Georgia. Their children, all born in Georgia, were Vienna, Hiram B., Mary Marion F., Martha, Charity, and Daniel(?). In 1860, Ambrose, 55, and Jerusha, 48, with Martin, Nancy and William J. were enumerated on pg 503-4 of the Carroll County Census. There are also a couple or so interesting deeds in Franklin Co., GA. Malone To: WILBANKS-L@rootsweb.com Monday, September 28, 1998 Years ago, when I first started work on the Wilbanks, I corresponded with a descendant of the Wilbanks family in Alcorn Co., MS. (Alcorn is next to Tippah Co., MS.). This lady was convinced that Cooper Wilbanks' wife was Jerusha Eubanks. Even the death certificate of a daughter of Jerusha showing Jerusha as a White did not convince her. Even the church records in Union Co., SC., did not convince her. I tried very hard to check out the Eubanks name but nothing at all showed up to even hint at Jerusha being a Eubanks. Contributed by: jmalone@ix.netcom.com (Johnita P.
