WEST-VA-1818-Will In the name of God, Amen I JOHN WEST of the Borough of Norfolk and State of Virginia being now sick, but of sound mind and memory do make and publish this as my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following hereby revoking all other Wills by me hertofore made. ... Imprimis, I give and bequeath to my Daughter ANNE CORNICK WEST the house and lot where I now reside with all the appurtenances, my silver Urn, and one Bed and furniture, to her and heirs forever. ... Item; I give and bequeath to my son THOMAS BOWLING WEST the Brick House now occupied by me as a Store at the intersection of Main Street with Church Street, with the land thereto attached, an on which the said Store stands, with all the appurterances and my Silver Watch with a Gold chain and Seal to him and his heirs forever. ... Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter ELIZABETH DELAWARE WEST the house and lot now occupied by JOSEPH C. MAIGNE, as a dry good Store, situate lying and being on Church Street between the Lots given to my Daugher Anne and son Thomas with the appurtenances: my Marble Slabb Side Board, and one Bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever. ... Item: I give and bequeath to my son DELAWARE WEST one square of land with the appurtenances, adjoing the lands of JOHN CLAVERT deceased and the REV. McCOWAN, formerlly known by the name of the old Law pitt as P. Patent for the same Vmy sword and military Books, to him and his heirs forever, ... Item: I give and bequeath to my Daughter OLIVIA CAROLINE WEST my lot of land on Hexley's land in the said Borough of Norfolk now used as a Garden lying between BRUNETTS property and the land lately purchased by DUCOING, with the appurtenances as P. patent , my breast pin and paste knee buckles to her and her heirs forever, together with one Bed and furniture. ... Item: I give and bequeath TO THE CHILD MY WIFE IS NOW PREGNANT WITH, if it should be born alive three One Acre Lots of Land at WEST Point with their and each of their appurtenances to such child and its heirs forever. ... Item: It is my will and desire and I do hereby order and direct that my executors herein after named sell at public auction for the best price that can be had my Goods, Wares, Merchanise now in my Store and my whole Stock in Trade, my carriage and horses and the three following Slaves TOM, WILLIAM and JOSHUA and out of the proceeds of such sale I give and bequeath unto the Child that MY WIFE IS NOW PREGANT WITH the sum of One Thousand Dollars, if it should be born alive, ... .......... to my Daughter OLIVIA CAROLINE WEST the sum of one thousand, ... .......... and my son DELAWARE WEST the sum of One Thousand Dollars, to them and their heirs forever ... .......... and the residue of said money with what money I may have in the FARMERS BANK of VIRGINIA to be equally divided among my other three children ANNE, THOMAS, AND ELIZABETH to them and their heirs forever. ... I do now give and devise to him a bond of MY BROTHER, THOMAS WEST, now in my possession, the principal and interest of which is perhaps one thousand dollars, and a trunk of Books formerly the property of MY BROTHER, DELAWARE WEST to him and his heirs forever. and I do hereby direct my executors herein after named to indorse the above mentioned Bond to my said son THOMAS. ... Item: I give and bequeath to MY LOVING WIFE ANNE WEST all my household and Kitchen furniture to her and her heirs forever. .......... Item: I also give and bequeath to her my two NEGRO'S SARAH AND BETTY to her and her heirs forever. .......... Item: I also give and bequeath to my said wife all my Debts due to me by Bonds, open accounts, or otherwise. She in consideration thereof paying the debts due from me to DOCTOR BARRAUD, HENOP AND HITCHCOCK. ... Item: If the child with which my wife is now pregnant should not be born alive, then and in that case I give and bequeath the whole of the property which I have given to that child to be equally divided among all my other chldren before named, to them and their heirs forever. ... Item: The money now in my house I do hereby direct shall to applied to the payment of my debts to her than those before mentioned and the ballance if any, to be appllied to the use of my family that is to say my wife and chidren. And as I have before omitted so to mention it. I do now hereby declare that it is my Will and Desire that my loving wife in addition to what I have given her above shall be intitled to one third part of the income or profits of the Estate real and personal which I have given to each of my children above named. ... and lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my said wife and my BROTHER IN LAW W. HENRY CORNICK, executrix, and executor of this my Will and do request of the Court that they may qualify without giving security.
